3rd row: Join color B in front strand of top of last dc, [ch 5, sl st in front strand of next dc] 6 times, ch 5, sl st in front strand of top ch of ch 3. 7 loops. Fasten off invisibly.

4th row: With RS facing, fold loops forward and join color C in back strand of end dc of 2nd row, [ch 8, miss 1 ch, sc 1 in next ch, hdc 1 in next ch, dc 1 in each of next 3 ch, hdc 1 in next ch, sc 1 in next ch, sl st in back strand of next dc] 7 times, ending sl st in back of top ch of ch 3 of 2nd row. Stem

Center
Using B, cast on 16 sts. Bind off.
Finishing
Sew petals together in pairs, then position one pair over the other in a cross formation and secure. Coil center into a tight spiral and sew base to the center. Using C, work a ring of straight stitches radiating from the flower center, then work French knots around the outer edge of the stitched ring. Using A, cast on 51 sts.
1st row (RS) K1, ssk, * [k1, yo, k1] in next st, k2, s2kpo; repeat from * 4 times, k2, [k1, yo, k1] in next st, k2, k2tog, k1. Change to B.
2nd row P. Continuing with B, work 1st row again. Change to A, work 2nd and 1st rows. Change to B, work 2nd and 1st rows. Change to C, work 2nd and 1st rows.
Using crochet hook, continue with C. Bind off row St st in first st, ch 3, sl st in same st, * sl st in next st, ch 3, sl st in same st; repeat from * to end.
Fasten off.
Stem
Using D and double-pointed needles, cast on 4 sts.
Make i-cord 1 inch long. Cup Continue with 4 double-pointed needles: 1st round Kfb 4 times. 8 sts. K 5 rounds. 7th round K in front, back, and front of each st. 24 sts.
Bind off.
Finishing Keeping points of chevron together, roll lower edge of flower tightly, curving outer row ends down and stitching in place.
Sew on cup, using yarn ends to fill it out.

7th row K2tog, k4, turn, slip 1, k to end. 13 sts.
8th row K2tog, k5, turn, slip 1, k to end. 12 sts. Change to A.
9th and 10th rows K.
11th row K2tog, k6, turn, slip 1, k to end. 11 sts.
12th row K2tog, k7, turn, slip 1, k to end. 10 sts.
Repeat 1st–12th rows 4 times. Bind off.
Sepals
Using C, cast on 6 sts.

Transfer remaining st to left-hand needle, * cast on 5 sts by cable method, k all 6 sts; repeat from * 3 times, then work 1st and 2nd rows again.
Bind off all sts. RS facing, along straight edge pick up and k 3 sts from each sepal. 15 sts. K 1 row. Next row sk2p 5 times. 5 sts. K 3 rows. Next row K2tog, k1, ssk. 3 sts.
Transfer these sts to a double-pointed needle and make an i-cord 1 in. long. Bind off.
Finishing
Pin out petal points and press lightly.
Seam to outside, join cast-on and bound-off edges of flower.
Darn in ends of A and B along fine stripes on outside.
Join base of sepals and attach to base of flower. Using C, make a small knot in center of flower.
